Alternative to Ventrilo

Last two days Ventrilo server is off-line. I don't know the specifics but that's not important now. Ventrilo has been decent over the years but it requires a hosting service, and sometimes it's been glitchy. A lot of people use TeamSpeak but once again it requires a hosting company and hosting fees.
My son is an avid gamer and uses Discord. He showed me how to use it and it is really quite simple. It's lika a peer to peer chat although it can create a static chat servers through Discord itself. A user, like you or me, can create a temporary server for 24 hours or permanent server and the creator is the Super-Admin but can delegate Admin powers to others. So even though one person creates a voice server on a particular night, when he leaves, others can continue on chatting without the server creator being in the chat or even having his computer up.
Everyone needs to register on DiscordApp.com with their email and create a user name. Discord will then append a "#" and 4 digits to their user name which is the person's Discord ID. Mine is tkolarik#1373 and I can create a nickname in Discord (i.e. Pistazien) so everyone knows who is who. Then we add friends using the Discord ID.
When someone creates a voice chat server, a http link is created which allows others to join the chat. The link to my voice server is: https://discord.gg/sMYDUuu
This link could be posted in the forum or sent via the Discord app or join a permanent server.
By default, communications are always on but you can push-to-talk. Discord comes in two flavors, a browser-based version and a desktop app. The desktop app is required for the push-to-talk feature.
Anyone is welcome to try Discord and add me and go to the voice server link I posted here. Also, it allows text chat and post small images, gif, text files, etc.
